Packing up for a relocation – check out these tools and tricks that you should use when preparing your possessions for the long trip. Some of the tools mentioned in this list can be provided by your removal company, while others you can find in the local hardware store. In all cases – it`s recommended to get the right equipment in advance and not to hurry on the moving day.

– A complete set of removal boxes

This is a very essential part of every relocation, whether it comes to small removals or big furniture removals to another city. Just make sure to get yourself more boxes than needed(here’s how you can get boxes for free), which is a much better opt than wondering where to store your items in the last moment due to lack of boxes. There are also boxes from a vast array of materials – from heavy-duty cardboard to plastic boxes or even boxes with transparent lids. Each has its own unique advantage and specs that make it perfect for a specific type of objects. Not to mention that some boxes with unusual shapes may become very handy too, for example – for storing books.

– Bags with different sizes

This is almost the same tip as the removal boxes, mentioned above, but the bags are much lighter and so they can fit only the smallest and lightest objects. From kid`s toys and clothes to small electronic devices – the plastic bags are transparent, easy to handle and you can see what`s inside with just a blink of the eye. Another great advantage is that they are waterproof, which makes them the perfect choice for storing electronic devices if moving house in a rainy day.

– Protective wrappings

The bubble wraps are the most typical way to protect delicate objects like kitchen appliances and furniture. The metal objects have a very vulnerable coating to scratches. That`s why it is recommended to enwrap each individual item in bubble wraps, secured with heavy-duty tape. The bubble wraps are also useful for big and small furnishings, and for a multitude of other wooden objects.

– Edge protectors

They are small and cheap, but very important in the meantime. They can save the most delicate parts of the objects – the sharp edges, from unexpected hits, drops and scratches. The edge protectors can be used for many different items too, such as paintings with wooden frames or when moving a big heavy cupboard with your helpers.

– Handling straps

This is another important item for your set, especially if you do everything by yourself or only with the help of your family. The handling straps make the moving of big and heavy furniture much easier than you have probably expected. It is not required to lift the furniture high from the ground when loading and unloading the removal van. The handling straps help you to do everything much easier and with almost no efforts.

– A ruler, a pencil, a couple of sheets for sketching a floor map

They can be indispensable at the moving day when you have dozens of bags and boxes waiting in front of the house. The ruler can help you to measure the exact dimensions of the doors so to make sure that the items will fit effortlessly through the door. A pencil and a sheet is all that you need to note the exact locations of the boxes or maybe to label each box.

– Other complimentary tools such as a sliding blanket, ropes, tapes, protective gloves for heavy lifting and a ladder.

Once you have identified what tools you require, here are some costs to keep in mind when moving.
