5 REASONS WHY VAN RENTAL CAN BE MORE SUITABLE FOR SINGAPOREANS

Take a second to look around your house. If you are planning to move, or if you need a few furniture/appliances to be moved, chances are you will be needing a house moving service to help you out.

But before you start looking for a truck or lorry rental on the web, take a second look at the things you need to be moved. Maybe it can be fit into a smaller vehicle. If it does, you are up for some savings!

Here are some reasons why you could hire a van to transport your stuff as opposed to a lorry.

1. Help you save money!

Goes without saying really. The cost to hire a lorry for transportation services can be double the price of say, a van.

Vans as a goods vehicle are not as common, though it is usually readily available. So jump on it!

2. Flexible timing to meet your schedule

Lorries are big. And even though the roads are well suited for them to drive on, a smaller, more agile van may be able to zip through traffic faster.

We are not saying lorry drivers are always tardy, not by a long shot. But you can’t know how the traffic is going to be, and the bulky lorry may be a bit slower driving through a packed road.

3. Win-win situation

If you are not familiar with how relocation services work, you may not know that driving with a half-full load is a huge waste for the drivers.

Let me explain. A half-full load for a lorry will result in unused space. Space that could otherwise be filled by other people that also need things transported.

So if one customer is unable to fill their lorry space, it will be almost impossible for them to find others with the right amount of things to fill said space.

Ergo, they have wasted their resources while bearing the same costs for travelling.

This is why it would be best if the things you need transported can fit into a van, that you would hire one instead of a lorry. It’ll be cheaper on your side, and more efficient for the drivers. Win-win no?

4. Less risk of damage

Speaking of hauling less-than-a-full-load worth of goods, it is quite obvious that your things might be more prone to damage once the lorry is moving around the city to reach your new house.

That unused space now becomes space for your things to maybe slide around or (God forbid) topple over once the lorry hit a road bump.

This does not usually happen. Movers are likely to be experienced enough to have the equipment to strap down your stuff so it won’t move. But you can never be too careful, can you?

5. Less hassle

If you live in an apartment or condominium, you know that lorries are not usually welcomed with open arms by the management.

In most buildings, you will have to fill in paperwork to get the management and security to approve that you will be moving, and to have a lorry entering the compound to help out.

And in lots of places, this process simply cannot be done on the weekends. I mean really? When SHOULD we start hauling our things for a move? On a weekday?

A van, on the other hand, will just have to sign in at the security booth as a visitor and haul your stuff in a jiffy.

Plus, the size will also make it easier for the movers to park non-obstructively.

The verdict

Now that you know how advantageous van rental can be for the transportation of your goods, you can rest easy knowing that a lot of movers in Singapore do provide vans to transport anything that fits its backload.
